Serial Killer's Girlfriend Talks To Sky News
February 24, 2008

Pamela Wright is a slightly built, timid woman who would easily blend into a crowd - but her boyfriend's serial murder spree has put paid to that. She fears she will now forever be known as the woman who worked nights while her partner had sex with prostitutes and murdered them on their bedroom floor.

Trembling hands and faltering speech show how Pamela is still struggling to come to terms with the impact Steve Wright's actions have had on her life. At 60, she had been looking forward to retirement. Now she cannot walk to the local shops or put out her bins without fear that others are pointing and whispering behind their hands... 'How could she not have known?'.

For more than a year she visited Wright regularly in prison, confident of his innocence. But she has now finally accepted that her partner is guilty. The weight of evidence at the trial - and the knowledge that Wright had brought the women back to her home - convinced her otherwise.

As we chat, she lurches between heart-rending sobs and fierce loyalty towards him...

After watching the heartfelt interview in the [Shalimar] gardens,(and may I say a very professional one as usual Kay)the saddest part, whilst justice has been delivered, is the fact that Ms Wright' life has been ruined by no fault of her own, particlaualry at a time when a happy retirement would have been uppermost in her mind. I hope that society does not ill treat her and that the [Friends] she once had remain as such especially at a time she has had her world torn apart.

Kay,

Mostly I think that you are a good newscaster, and being home and disabled I have Sky News on 24/7.

But I think you've slipped up on this one old girl. I don't think asking about sex lives was a very good idea.

2/10 for this one!

Cheers,

Steve, Bolton

For Pamela... Hold your head up high, You are not responsible for his spree of killing. As it has been reported on sky most serial killers are indeed extremely clever and manipulative. I can in all honesty believe that to you life with him was the norm. Try not to put yourself in the same league as him. It was only HIM on trial and found GUILTY not you!!! Enjoy your retirement you most certainly deserve. I wish you all the luck in the world!!!!
As for Kay I thought she was most empathetic and sensitive to Pamela.

Kay,

As always you did an excellent job in such a difficult interview. It was clearly a distort person whom you had to ask difficult questions to inorder to transfer it to your audience. You were professional as always. One of the things that i most like about Kay is that she asks difficult questions which are exactly the questions the audience watching want answered.

I don't agree with Mr. Steve Bolton in saying that Kay did wrong in asking about the sex live. Sex was important in this story. Therefore it was important for Kay to ask this inorder for the audience to understand more what kind of person this serial murder was like in his private life.

Like always Kay 10/10 well done!
