CHINA EARTHQUAKE BREAKS ON TWITTER
May 13, 2008

Blog_rob Did news of the massive earthquake in China break first online? A well-known US blogger Robert Scoble says he reported the tremors as they happened (and before they were officially conformed) thanks to updates on the social media site Twitter. Twitter and other sites were then inundated with pictures, updates and reports from across China - often faster than the Chinese official state media did. So what does this all mean - well for one thing sites like that make it alot harder to control the flow of information in and out of a country (as the Burmese military rulers have discovered). We will be talking to a new media blogger Paul Bradshaw at 7:30pm
